How do HTML and XML sitemaps differ?
HTML exposes page links; XML supplies a sitemap URL list. Domain permissions govern collection regardless of format.
Method and interpretation
An HTML ZIP provides a source snapshot; a sitemap provides URLs to discover. Retain origin and collection time when normalizing canonical URLs, titles, text and links. Source readiness findings and externally observed search or AI exposure are different evidence types.
